Solar panels for your home will provide you all the electricity needed for a large majority of the electrical items in your home. The amount you will need to spend on your solar energy system will run you more if you purchase from a company versus creating your own solar panels.
However, either way the savings that you will gain on your energy bill will outweigh any costs by far. Overtime you will save hundreds of dollars on your electricity bill and will be doing something good for the planet at the same time. By using solar panels for your home you will greatly improve the efficiency of your power use enabling you to reduce your power consumption price to almost free.
The important thing to keep in mind is the amount of output expected from your solar panels, what additional equipment may need, how you plan on controlling them, and whether you will do the work yourself or purchase and then have them installed for you.
What will the cost be?
The creation of your solar panel system will begin with a quick analysis of your specific energy needs. You will want to create a diagram that shows your current power usage in both overall KWH you currently use and for all appliances will be useful for not only showing you in what ways you are currently using energy but also what you can do to modify your energy uses in the future.
First you will want to look at the KWH number which can found on your electricity bill and then divide that particular number by thirty in order to get your daily average usage. For example if you normally use seven hundred KWH that will give you a daily average usage of 26.66 KWH each day.
You will then take your daily average KWH and divide it by the amount of hours you get of sun per day on a yearly average and then multiply that by 1.15. This will give you the number of watts of solar panel that will be needed to fully cover your current power usage. For example, if on average you get six hours of sun per day, you would then divide 26.66 by the six to get 4,444 watts or 4.44 KW. You will multiply that by 1.15 and will get te amount of 5,111 watts of solar panels which you would need to install.
The average cost for installing solar electricity if done by yourself will cost you around $7 per watt or $10 if you have them installed by a licensed contractor. This will include the cost for the inverters, panels, mounts, wire, and other necessary hardware. However, this cost does not include any specials or extras that you may have to have for inspections or additional power meters which is installed by the power company. In the example used here the entire cost for the solar panel system would run you about $40,000. If you choose to go with a battery based system the amount that you will pay may be 20 -30% higher.
In the long run you may save as much as 30 – 50% on your electric bill once things are set up and running properly. Solar panels for your home can be the perfect option for helping the environment and saving yourself money at the same time.
